I apologize for my random hiatus. I will officially be posting consistently again. I plan to provide more interesting things this time around and to post at east once a week. I am excited to announce that Confession of the Soul will be available this year! Confessions of the Soul is a collection of quick-hitting poetry that force you to reflect on various aspects of life. Stay tuned as more details will be released over time!

Today's Thought: Is it better to be master one skill, or to be a jack of all trades?

              Let me know your thoughts!

F is for Friendless

A to Z Challenge

A table to sit at
A fireplace to keep warm
Someone to calm me
During the storm

Someone to wipe my tears

Who's there when I cry
That tells me it's okay
And wipes my face dry

More than just because
My house is not a home
With no family here with me
Makes me feel all alone

D is for Dracula

     A to Z Challenge

We expected long, sharp teeth. We expected a cape and coffins and superhuman abilities and this and that. What did we really get? Something that goes straight for heart and not the neck but still manages to draw blood. Something that still drains us of our energy if we let it; something that, if not handled correctly, could take our lives away from our very own control. Something extremely cold blooded, yet we search for it anyways.
Something called love. Something that can kill you, or something that can make you live forever.

E is for Elbow

(A Nonet)

Like few other things, I bend, not break
Just for you, life easy I make
I catch the germs when "Ah-CHOO"
A thing few others do
help to hide your face
from shame; disgrace
I've never
left your
side.

C is for Communion

#AtoZchallenge

Image result for the last supper

One will betray me, though many others already have
They lie, they cheat, they steal, they go behind my back
For 25 pieces of silver, the price of a mere slave
Not even sold as a King, who came to Earth to save

I eat my last meal with those people I call my friends
How many will remember me once I meet my end?
Will I only be remembered on the First Sunday of Every Month?
Though many people have never met me, if I may be truly blunt

Then they want passage into my Kingdom, passage into my home
Though my life, my battle, my story, these same people have never known

One will betray Him, though many others already have
He came to save your soul, a few thousand years in the past

For 25 pieces of silver, the price of a mere slave
You know not what you do, but now that fact is changed

He ate his last meal with those people He called his friends
Then He died on the cross to cleanse us of our sins

Will He only be remembered on the First Sunday of Every Month?
With a small glass of wine, a small bread caused crunch

Then they want passage into His Kingdom, passage into His home

Though they’ll be left to a blazing Hell, fearful, all alone

Love Leaves You in Chains (A Villanelle)

It’s the pain of the game
They say time heals all
Because love leaves you in chains

Grief on an insurmountable range
We’re both villains in each other's eyes
It’s the pain of the game

My chest now blood stained
My heart no longer in its box
Because love leaves you in chains

Watching you leave on that train
Thinking about all of the lies
It’s the pain of the game

Now my life will never be the same
Feeling trapped in Hell like Dante
Because love leaves you in chains

Was this destined from the moment you came?
Is this a sign of the end days?
It’s the pain of the game
Because love leaves you in chains

Our Smiles

Space and time become void,
what makes a smile wear down
like the fragile creations of human hands?
The words of another?
The stress and fatigue that accompanies?
The gray skies are all we see
Even when the sun is out
lest the smile begins to brighten
Notice that the word bully
starts with the word bull
The smile- something a human could
never truly create for themselves
goes through the passage of life.
Some keep their beautiful smile, while others lose their gift,

bombarded by the bull of a bully

April A-Z Challenge: B is for Bold

A couple of years ago I began this challenge a day late and by happenstance I start a day late again.

*This is in no way what a woman should or must be! Simply my personal preference for the type of woman I'd share my life with.

I like my women like I like my coffee; strong, hot, and bold. I need a woman that's not afraid to voice her opinions and stand toe to toe with me. I need a lady with a passion that can match my own. Unwavering, faithful, confident. The eye also can't go wanting. Such a strong woman must have an elegant and classy style to complement my own. Sensible, yet clever, with a modern touch. Lastly, bold enough to dream big. Bold enough to help others. Bold enough to see past what others say search for the truth.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Hot when it gets out of the microwave

Be patient and don’t misbehave

It would be a shame if you burnt your tongue

I’ll make it better  like chicken noodle soup does

When you're sick I’ll bring you some

Cuddle with you in some blankets or a ton

Watch movies and make sure you feel comfortable

Bring you some popcorn

Hope I make you feel better like the chicken noodle soup does

B is for Beautiful

Hey, I'm joining this April A-Z challenge. Just for fun, I didn't sign up since I'm a day late, but i still want some of the fun :)

Beautiful she was and is. The reason is because she doesn't try. No guy has ever polluted her purity. Her goals are in place. Her parents care for her and love her. She's been strong and independent. Now, add happy to the list. She's pretty too. What's missing? Nothing, she's beautiful and she's mine. Can I keep her? It would be a shame to lose someone that's perfect for me. Simply try. Try to keep her. Maintain something healthy between us. She'll tell me the truth. She'll support me. She'll try her best for me. She'll sit and listen to me ramble on about religion, politics, philosophy, sports, my blog, books, food, anything. All she asks is that I do the same. All she asks is that I remain beautiful too. I could have used big words for this. Her beautiful style is simple. I wanted to use her style in this since it's about her. I wanted to keep it simple so it can be like her. Her style is something to enjoy :)

My Unspoken Emotion

I recall every day her callous feats
stirring up an unforgettable pain
her wrath a sweltering heat
something I cannot get out of my brain.
An ocean falls upon my soul
I call it my own emotion
an area that will stay closed.
where is the self-devotion?
Where would it be if she blames me?
I try to please, that’s plain to see
now my work, perfunctory; I have become complacent.
Shall I speak for her to hear?
my fear, my tear, a flawless gear?
I will not speak, a qualm quite queer, but I am not yet brazen;
everything was mental till her hand now breached my face
I stepped back very tentative, she has crossed the line.
I react, a pure reflex, before she gets to brace
after today, I cannot say, to my ardor she is blind

Today's Funny

A little something funny for the day, accompanied by a bit of patriotism and fill in the blank messages :)

Today's Nugget of Wisdom

1 kings 6:13

You may know many things, but until you can understand each of them you can't connect the pieces of knowledge to create the highway of wisdom that your brain runs on. This is how the greats still manage to be great through lies and adversity. This is how you manage to appear strong even when you have broken down deep inside. This isn't a simple task, to teach yourself something like this takes extreme discipline, and instead is more powerful when taught. Mentors and coaches once had a strong movement and participated in the lives of many. Presently their abundance is low. The chance of them returning is low due to a lack of confidence within our generation. Most of us refuse to reach out and touch the lives of others. Key principles of life are lost between the inability to communicate. One major principle we've lost over the years is worship. I go around and hear people call themselves Christian all day long, but you can feel the irregularities of God's spirit just by their presence. Worship must be somatic and true, built on a foundation of prayer. Parents don't even explicate the importance of prayer anymore; outside of waking and sleeping.  People are fundamentally ignorant of how to converse with God. Have you forgotten how to brush your teeth? Seeds that are planted deep inside the soil of your heart maintain themselves and eventually blossom. Some seeds are domineering like brushing your teeth, while a few lie dormant unacknowledged by the spectators visible. I hate to seem like I'm preaching in your face, I prefer to let you see for yourself. There has never been a time where my faith failed me. This principle of faith stretches into all aspects of our lives. Faith is not the same as confidence where as faith must be conjured from yourself when you have nothing left. My confidence on the soccer field comes from practice, repetition, and years of doing it. My faith in speaking comes from my faith in the favor that God has given me, something I can't feel. I can hold one of my MVP medals to remind me of what I've done, yet at any moment I could lose my grace and end up back on normal precedents. I could have labored extravagant words to vindicate my pedagogy. That wouldn't have touched you though. Taking the time to fully explain each of my thoughts is how we create the bond that will entrench you to me forever. We have built the temple, and God will remain with us in it.

Words

When we layer and create things that are elaborate
We create the designs of life onto our fabric
We attempt to make changes that are drastic
While using words that are fake as plastic
But using the real thing is how we see results
And being genuine is how we impact the most
From a few simple words from this mouth that I host
You can curse, condemn, or praise even when it takes the most.

There's a Want in the World

There's a want in the world
Not a need you can spot
They've cropped the top, then enlarged it to fit a lot
They want what they want and they won't allow change,
A desire for power and control is the crave.
No room in their hearts, they won't reserve a place,
I dry my eyes as I try, but things tend to stay the same.
I'm tired of these people, all their antics and their games,
And there's one person similar in the way she was trained
I tried to be different, but now we might be alike
Since now I have a want, and that's you by my side.
Someone to stand with, Pacing by my every stride.
Comfortable with herself, and I can see it in her eyes.
       She needs room to grow
I hope you know you're not alone
I hope you know I have a heart, and I;m not made of stone.
I like that you have a want, but first you obtained your needs
And if we could all do that it would erase the world's greed
The amount of things I've thought about is steep.
All thanks to you, and the intrigue that you bring.

Murders Among Us

I wrote This after Sandy Hook. I let my emotions spill onto the page when i wrote it, but my work took an unexpected twist. Stay tuned to figure out what it was:

Now I never put my scoop in on shootin' murder in mass groupin'
But I Just wonder, like really do they know what they're doin'?
Gettin' as many before that last suicide
Why did you bring in extra people, you didn't need their help just to die.
But I will take you inside these homicidical eyes
Where I don't need to be tried
Either way I get judged by analytical ties
Reasons stand wide while the true answers hide
As I pull the trigger I'm blind, yet I SEE emotions collide
later on you see cryin'
But no eyes will be dryin'
As they figure out how to charge this crime,
And things iron themselves out as they find my identity.
Then they go and tell the public that it's me that's their enemy.
But really I'm a product of desolate fixtures,
Growing up with no culture: an American mixture.
But a true breed, conjured of shooting, drinking and "swishers"
I really can't pretend that I ever could fit in
The separate the crazy so in school I couldn't blend
They're paving the way, so what I do fits the trend
Imagine what would've happened if only we were his friend.

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there. It doesn't matter what you do, he said, so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away. The difference between the man who cuts lawns and a gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime."

Amazing

Intro:
Crying she rips her skin, just disregarding the sin, she doesn't feel she deserves the body she's gifted with, keeping to herself, and hiding it from her friends, looking into the mirror, she wishes she could blend in, I can see her differently now, how mean I must've been, I watch her flaws fade away, never wanna see them again, she puts them back into my head, making me feel her dread, making me wish that her and I could start all over again

Chorus: she shares into the mirror and sees nothin but a monster, slender stomach, stick thighs, she thinks no man would want her, but I'm here to say, she's sadly mistaken, for one reason, she is simply amazing

Verse:
Now for all the girls with a bad self image, tears full of sorrow, no hope for u to borrow, life is not a play you don't a chance to scrimmage, its a slim path its okay to be timid, your step becomes rigid, your excitement gets a limit, well thats the kinda life I'm tired of her livin, it makes me really livid, my words cut deeper and they may get explicit, I'm no longer civic, I wanna be her ticket, to the land of her dreams, pick up her broken pieces and supply her every need, you reap what you sow, so I'll plant a thousand seeds, and when she blossoms like a flower we can sway in the breeze, now this might be confusing with a bunch of similes, so as simple as can be, I've wiped the tears from her eyes and now she can clearly see

Chorus

I Don't Need You Satan

I don't need you Satan
Please take the first exit
My life won't be taken
I will not sell it

We speak more than seldom
Not by my choice
Many times I am tempted
Left with no voice

I need my way out
I've been undefeated
I may lose now
I may have been too conceited

I am complacent
Why do WE clash
My victory's brazen
That's been shown in the past

My Savior has came
He reigns from above
My God, he saves
With his grace from above
